Volunteers

A strong team: The volunteers of the Berlin Wall Race

It might sound corny, but it is true: Without the volunteers the Berlin Wall Race would not be possible in the way it is! Along the course more than 400 volunteers are on duty, most of them at the 26 refreshment stations. Everyone who took part in the last years could feel the wonderful atmosphere and great passion. Every refreshment station is unique, with its own individual and distinctive character.

In addition there are many helping hands at the start and finish line at the Erika-Heß-Stadion. To help here, you really need to be  multi-talented since the scope of tasks is wide – preparing food, making coffee, sharing information, sorting drop bags and preparing the awards ceremony. A normal 8-hours day is not enough here and at the refreshment stations along the course. There is a lot of work to do – around the clock.

The team of volunteers also includes the official Berlin Wall Race bicycle team. Besides escorting the leading runners and helping with orientation, the cyclists check the course markings and illuminate difficult passages at night.

Of course, support for the volunteer team is always most welcome. Particularly needed are  people with good knowledge of foreign  languages (i.e. other than German) to help the international runners (from Italy, the UK, North America, Sweden, France…) finding all the information they need. There is always an exciting task with responsibility. And besides the very positive feedback from the race participants, you will receive the volunteer shirt as a reward for your help. The shirt is newly designed every year. A real eye-catcher!
