We still owe you something: the presentation of this year’s motif, combined with the presentation of the shirts. We had already presented the volunteer shirt and some people noticed that we made a mistake.
Yes, this year it is the 12th Wall Run, why the mistake of the 13th Wall Run, as shown on the shirts, happened can no longer be understood. Perhaps the counting was made even more complicated by the Corona year. A lot of things have to be ordered and prepared over the long term, so that if you make a mistake you can’t just do everything again from the beginning. We’re sorry, but we have to take it as it is.
This year the motif is by Dieter Wien, who unfortunately passed away in 2015.
Vienna’s picture “The Morning” shows a hopeful scene: a male figure with hints of wings floats through the sky, holding a woman in his arms. Both have left the black area on the left edge of the picture in the original, which could symbolize the Berlin Wall, behind them. The couple floats towards the sun in a peaceful landscape against a blue sky, which envelops both of them in dazzling light. The picture gives an idea of the artist’s optimistic view of a better future shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
