Berlin Wall Run 2025 – and you were all part of it!
There’s always something! Although we had the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark as the start and finish location this year, a severe storm in July caused closures in the Spandau Forest, necessitating route changes. Accordingly, the route also had to be adjusted in several other places to avoid making it even longer than some runners already find it after 12, 24, or 30 hours. Overall, it actually got a little longer… and yet:

We have a new course record for the men, set by Pascal Rüeger from Switzerland, who crossed the finish line after an incredible time of 12:37:14! He beat the previous record set by Mark Perkins (13:06:52) from 2014 by almost half an hour. Many individual runners hadn’t even completed half the course at this point and still had a long night ahead of them. Congratulations, Pascal! Second place went to Martin Müller of Hamburg Running (13:18:52), and third place went to Luka Videtic from Slovenia in 13:40:39.

In the women’s race, Carmen Perez Serrano of Spain defended her title from last year, finishing fourth overall with a time of 13:59:38, still under the 14-hour mark and just a few minutes ahead of the record set by Line Caliskaner (Norway) in 2023. Line also participated again this year, finishing second in 15:43:16, ahead of Veronika Császár-Szabó of Hungary (16:58:50).
The two-person relay teams in particular demonstrated that you can excel and be strong together as a team. Two teams beat the previous course record of 14:25:02: The winners, “2 good to go,” clocked 13:33:14, followed by the “Optimistic Runners” in 13:42:29. Team “Berlin Hot Crankz” crossed the finish line just above the previous record in 14:30:49.

In the 4-person relay, the “Bad Brains” won in 12:53:26 hours, ahead of the “B.E.A.M.-Team ASV” (12:55:54) and “Läuft bei 4” (14:05:48). The fastest legs in the 10+ teams were “Die Murmelos” (11:51:24), followed by the HBG Runners (12:49:56) and the “S-Bahner laufen grenzenlos” team (14:00:58).
As in every year, the excitement among runners and spectators is generated not only by top performances and records, but also by the many small and large victories achieved on and off the course. Nearly 500 individual runners (a new record number of participants!) and hundreds of relay runners took part in the Berlin Wall Run this weekend around the former West Berlin. This year, the Berlin Wall March also took place for the second time overall, and for the first time over the long distance of 102 km.

Many, either individually or as part of a team, were able to exceed their own expectations, celebrate personal successes, and enjoy unforgettable running experiences together. Some had to end the race early due to injuries or other health problems. Even though the weather gods were generally kind, sending overcast skies and the occasional cooling gust of wind, especially in the morning, what will happen along the way can never be fully predicted, and there is no guarantee that everything will go as planned.
We are all the more grateful to our more than 450 volunteers who worked tirelessly at various locations: whether at the refreshment points, in the start and finish areas, or in the many “invisible” activities in the preparation and follow-up and logistics of the race: You were all an indispensable part of the 2025 Wall Trail Run and Wall Trail March! We would also like to thank all the companies that supported our event.

During the run, a memorial service was held in Potsdam-Griebnitzsee for Günter Wiedenhöft, who drowned in Griebnitzsee during his second escape attempt in the winter of 1962. Especially in times when many people are still fleeing inhumane systems, we should never forget that freedom and human rights should not only be enjoyed with gratitude, but actively defended!

The next Berlin Wall Run or Berlin Wall March will take place on August 15-16, 2026.
