QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RULES

Where are the cut-offs along the way?

There are cut-offs at every refreshment point. You can find the cut-off times in the announcement.

Please keep an eye on your watch: you must have left the respective change or refreshment point by the specified time at the latest. If you leave later, you will have to retire from the race and you will not be counted. In such a case, please hand over the transponder to the manager of the refreshment point, but keep your start number – because this is your ticket for free public transportation in Berlin on the race weekend.

When does the finish line close?

The finish line for relays is 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The finish line for single runners is after 30 hours of running time, i.e., at 12:00 noon. But one thing is certain: if the time is very tight, then all the helpers in the stadium and our broom runners will cheer you on so loudly that you will run the fastest lap of your life in the stadium.

Can the race doctor take me out of the race?

If the race doctor is convinced that you are unable to continue the run, then he can and will have to take you out of the race. The decisions of the racing doctor are binding and must be followed.

What are rule violations?

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, e.g., obstructing other participants or taking short cuts
  • Running without mandatory equipment
  • Changing your start number
  • Use of a vehicle
  • Violations of the road traffic regulations e.g., crossing at a red light

Is every rule violation punished with disqualification?

Serious rule violations – yes. In any case, this includes the use of vehicles or the crossing of red traffic lights and closed level crossings. As well, the race management can also decide on time penalties at its own discretion.

Who determines a rule violation?

Rule violations can be determined by the race management, the referees, the bike team, the VP leaders and the broom runners.

Who carries out the disqualification?

The race management and the race doctor can declare a disqualification. With the disqualification, the race is over for the runner, the transponder is removed from the timekeeping.

Does the disqualification take place directly on the route in the event of a rule violation?

If possible, yes. Proven rule violations leading to disqualification can only be pursued after reporting it to the race management. The runner can therefore still be taken out of the ranking even after crossing the finish line.

How are time penalties imposed?

The race management decides on the amount of the time penalty. This is added to the finishing time.
